Food Freedom
On Jan. 31 family farmers from across the country took part in the first phase of the Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al. v. Monsanto court case. The case was filed to protect farmers from genetic trespass by Monsanto’s genetically modified (GMO) seed, which can contaminate organic and non-GMO farmers’ crops and open farmers up to abusive lawsuits.
About 200 supporters met at Foley Square in Manhattan the morning of Jan. 31. In total, more than 300,000 people are represented by 83 plaintiffs from 36 organizations in the case against Monsanto.
As a result of aggressive lawsuits against farmers with contaminated crops, Monsanto has created an atmosphere of fear in rural America and driven dozens of farmers into bankruptcy. Farmers now have the opportunity to fight back and have their voices heard in a court of law.
The Federal District Court judge has agreed to hear oral arguments in this landmark case to decide whether or not the case will move forward. The judge has until March 31st to make a decision.
Occupy Wall Street Food Justice, Occupy Big Food and Food Democracy Now! assembled at Foley Square in solidarity with farmers on the front lines of the struggle against corporate domination of the nation’s food system.

Yesterday, January 31st, Occupy Portland and The GMO Resistance staged a Guerilla Gardening action in solidarity with Farmers vs. Monsanto Case #2012, planting 6 beds of flowers and vegetables next to Washington High School. Security called Portland Oregon police who sided with protestors, as did neighbors. The work was allowed to continue and seen as an improvement to a property not being well maintained by owners.
People who formerly had never heard of Monsanto, GMO’s and biopiracy were educated by musicians singing vigorous rally songs and a spontaneous performance in which Evil Monsanto sported with glee, “Bwahahaha. He who rules the food supply, rules the world!” while enacting bio-piracy against an organic farmer and decrying the rally organizer with “Do-Gooder! Get her!”
Several large banners were in place. Fox News, monitoring police broadcasts, hovered for 20 minutes on the scene hoping for arrests; but since the event didn’t turn out to fit their smear campaign, declined to film or interview.
The Guerilla Gardeners may be expected. They do not forget to water, they do not forgive.
As the Public is finely waking up to the Lies of how safe these Genetically Engineered Food are and exposed to the Real Dangers of these Un-Natural Foods, it’s good to see Farmers finally have a voice. Farming in the USA has slowly been destroyed as large corporations make efforts to control our food supply and control food globally.
For those of you listening to companies like Monsanto, suggesting testing of these dangerous foods is unnecessary, you should consider their reputation. Monsanto since the early 1900’s has produced some of the most hazardous chemicals and waste in the world. These highly carcinogenic substances, such as DDT, PCB’s and Agent Orange have destroyed millions of human lives. It’s estimated that over 500,000 Vietnamese children have been born with deformities attributed to Agent Orange. The suggested these poisons were safe as well.
So anyone who can believe anything Monsanto has to say about not testing GM Foods should consider their history of Global Destruction of Human Beings, Animals and Nature. The fact that Monsanto has destroyed the livelihoods of American Farmers with Cross-contamination of their crops and then suing the Farmers is outrageous.
We hope the judge will hear this case and fully defend the Rights of American Farmers, their families, as well as the American Public from this unjust attempt to control Food and Food Crops.
We sincerely hope more Legal and Financial Assistance will come to the aid of Farmers on a Global Scale, in addition to Humanity and Nature from the threat of these dangerous genetically modified and engineered plants and seeds. As well as more Legal Action for the Cross-Contamination and pollution of Cross-Contamination to Nature.
Blessings To You All
