The Certified B Corporation designation is awarded to companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and to meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. To become a Certified B Corporation, EnviroMedia had to undergo a rigorous evaluation by B Lab, the nonprofit that certifies and supports B Corporations. B Lab analyzed EnviroMedia’s business practices, including energy use, employee policies and community involvement.

1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses that donates 1 percent of annual sales directly to approved environmental and sustainability nonprofit organizations.

EnviroMedia provides sustainability and health communications as well as digital consulting services to the world’s most innovative agents of change. Since 1997, EnviroMedia has produced award-winning behavior change campaigns that promote quality of life by improving the environment, public health and public safety.

“Businesses that commit to both B Corp and 1% for the Planet membership are true leaders and represent an elite group globally,” said Kate Williams, 1% for the Planet’s CEO, about EnviroMedia. “These companies are investing not only in improving sustainability throughout their internal operations, but also in addressing the very real challenges facing our planet by investing in environmental nonprofits. We are honored to work with these companies and believe that they represent the future of business at its best.”

Other companies that have achieved both B Corp and 1% for the Planet status include New Belgium Brewing, Patagonia, EcoWatch and LEAP Organics.

“EnviroMedia has spent two decades fighting for authenticity in CSR [corporate social responsibility] communication and in environmental marketing,” said EnviroMedia President and Co-founder Kevin Tuerff. “We’re proud to join two groups that believe, like we do, that doing well by doing good should be standard business practice.”

“More than 80 of America’s largest companies have just signed a White House pledge to reduce emissions and support United Nations climate talks. Becoming a certified B Corporation and joining 1% for the Planet are ways large and small business owners can join the movement,” said EnviroMedia’s co-founder and CEO Valerie Salinas-Davis.
